Monday 27th April

Food wise today didn't go well, I ordered the vegetarian no chili roll and end up with pork & chili. The pork I took out, though chili was embedded in my teeth! 20mins at the sink and then I inhaled a handful of candy to cover it up. We are not eating there again!

The play went well in that no one died, via electrocution - there was a huge bowl of water very close to the power point and lights... I played a variety of characters, one of which was 'the lone dine' which discussed being alone but not lonely.

Tuesday

Someone has ruined waffles for me for life I think. We're apparently going through a separation as he feels the summary of our differences are larger than similarity, and that we have different goals in life. e.g. Being happy vs making lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$. I do feel special that he took a sick day to come tell me this in person.

Sometimes our differences may be less in quantity but higher in importance.

Didn't feel so great after that so we went home instead of working on projects due tomorrow. Home to Lucy for a hug, who would never leave me. We took a nap which turned out to be a bad decision.

On punt rd there are serviced apartments advertised as lux + affordable XD those two thing don't belong in the same paragraph, unless your idea of affordable comes from the position of Harvey Specter.

This week's event was a MSO Muso Illustration Workshop. Drawing portraits of others in the room, with our left hand, w/o lifting the pen from paper, with our eyes closed, and getting someone else to guide your hand. Getting the facial features inside the face is pretty good for me :P. Some people were amazing! And someone drew Aang.

Afterwards we went for a stroll to San Churro to sample some of new items on their winter menu. Read all about it here. The tiramisu was delicious!

Friday

We were up at 7am, though Lucy wanted a hug and I wanted to go to the dog show and suddenly it was 2pm!

Confirmed the clipboard is lost. HQ never received it so someone took it or threw it in the bin. Hoping it was the later because inside was my address, email, number, phone book and timetable. With that you can stalk me very well! I hate letting people borrow things! Need to get that as a tattoo on my hand!

After the dr went for a walk to morman's side of the river to try to recreate a picture I saw. Didn't happen. Should have bought the reference picture. But I did see three little ducks/birds and two black swans. I have never actually seen a white one in nature irl.

I saw these in the window of a bookshop!

Son of a ... actually I'm certain it was a girl. No boy would chew pink fruity gum. We need a ban on it like Singapore. So the gum was under and on the edge of the table. I sat there and ended up with it all over my skirt! How does a client feel if I turn up w/o pants and in lingerie (under my coat)? So we had to stop and buy another skirt on the way to the meeting! Bitch is going down if I ever find out who it is. Gum is on my top three most hated things about college. Along with girls who I can see are either wearing a g-string or no underwear at all. Pants around your ass is also back in for boys. And people ask why I can't find a nice boy at school...

This week was a blurr. A bad one. Le beau wanted to take a break on Tuesday. Afterwards he drove me home because I needed a hug from bunny. We took a nap and it was Wednesday 10pm. Thursday we had school, but I missed a step and got lost. The teacher didn't show me where we were up to. A few weeks ago I missed a class, and that's where I stated to get lost. She advised me to take the class again next semester, but Friday 9am ain't going to happen. A clipboard I learnt to someone for work was stolen/thrown out. And some bitch put gum on the side of the table, and got it all over my skirt (now in the freezer).

Dinner went much better. A buffet at Angliss Restaurant,
the fourth in a series of visits, hence our lack of food posts.

Saturday

I like days that start after lunch and go till midnight. The day started with buying dinner at Roll'd, surprisingly the girl who served me speaks fluent English. I love that!

We had the b with beef, which was ok. 70% vermicelli was a no go with me though... but we also had seafood spring rolls with that net covering instead of pastry, and it was delicious! Oh how I do wished they were available on every corner like hot chips.

Next was ice cream! Coconut sorbet from Popstic by the river, it was delicious! Jas says coconut water is like crack to me, I love it! The sorbet wasn't icy or too sweet as sometimes they are, instead it was perfect, especially with a squeeze of lime and drizzle of coventure dark chocolate. Sadly today was the last day of that flavour as we move into winter.

Tonight event featured the epic Beethoven: The 1808 Vienna Concert. Five hours including two intervals. Tickets start from $130 and were almost sold out. No.6 was what we started with, the Japanese Orchestra had a Barbie Concert and used this piece in their promo ad. I love this piece, and Barbie (Princess era).

Coffee Break!

After the break was the 5th, the first four notes is Beethoven's signature. Four notes so simply but powerful. While everyone has heard the 5th, not all have heard it live. Add this to your bucket list. It's amazing.

It's high! It's very high! What if the building leans forwards?!

At some point someone touched me, and I was hit with a case of OCD, I felt contaminated and had to run off for a shower and change my clothes. I do not handle being touched very well. He poked me several times, quit trying to distract me! I may have also had a mini breakdown , curled up into a little ball and cried... The empty seat next to me where le beau would have been didn't help either.

After the concert we went for crepes, salted caramel as always. They still taste nice but the magic is gone. Probably won't get them again.

Sunday

Sunday was slightly productive. Didn't feel like going to the dog show as we missed the show I really wanted to see. Spent 2hrs sewing on the backing for a necklace, as the glue gun dried too fast for me to work with, and without the backing the necklace was scratchy.

Didn't do much. Father offered me $20 to turn the music off and go buy the cd and listen to it in my room. At home we don't listen to music, it's not something we do. And we certainly don't encourage the arts, only what is essential to life. Hobbies aren't one of those things, nor is dancing. Why dance with others, when you can dance alone at home for free?

Since we didn't go to the city we went dancing instead, but still didn't hit the 5k goal. We waltzed! Which I like. Conversations with morman, on auto reply with interesting. I said something and he said that's excellent. O.o It wasn't excellent, nor did we have a great time. You weren't listening! To that he did admit. I either caught him at a bad time (never been good at timing) or he's pushing me away. Something interesting did happen! I fell, tripped over my feet during a turn. It hurt. I have a bruise on my knee, but I fell on my ass... and morman totally saw me, so did his parents and a quarter of the room. Good thing no one knew I stepped on a leaf, slipped and fell into the bushes on my way in!

Next week shall be better.

Saturday 25th April

On Saturday afternoon we went for high tea, which I realize that all teas are called high teas, with the exception of staff morning teas which don't have fancy slices and cakes, and regular afternoon tea with scones and lemonade. While the high tea trend is on its tail end there are still plenty of places offering it, like the new Providence Cafe that opened late last year. They offer a monthly high tea with different themes, in a collaboration with local-ish bakers and creators. April was the Baker's Tea, featuring all baked sweets, though there were savories too.

text

On arrival we had Honeycomb Milkshakes which was delicious! I only wished it was bigger :P It tastes like Big M Honeycomb but slightly different, it also didn't make me sick like Big M.

Tea and Scones are always an essential. Jas let me pick the tea, even though he's a tea person and I'm not. We went with the 'Jasmine Pearls' which I thought would have had those boba, popping pearls in it. It did not.

Scones - Providence

The scones were good but nothing amazing, served with butter and jam. It's either butter or cream. The butter was straight from the fridge and impossible to spread, and this time we didn't have a candle to warm the knife up with.

Each plate was served at a different time, rather than everything being served on the three tier tower at the same time. Hence we didn't get a picture of the complete three tiers. This was so because some of the dishes were served warm, unlike usual where everything except scones are served cold.

Mini Sheppard’s Pie & Bruschetta

After the scones the savories arrived, everything was very good. We started with the open extra thick light rye finger sandwich. Bread, brie with edge and salmon, topped with avocado and a plant. I've never paired salmon and brie, it's always bird of some sort and brie. But this was nice, the Salmon & Brie. (Pictured below).

I loved the Mini Sheppard’s Pie, I haven't had pie in so long. In puff pastery rather than your typical pie base, it was the perfect size and something I love in winter.

The 'Corned Beef and Potato Pan de Sal Bruschetta' looked different from how I thought it would, as it's normally on thing toast, rather than half a bun. I expected this to be meh, but it was very good!

A standout was the Tartlet Parmigiana, that's the one that looks like a meatball in a tart. It's a chicken meatball covered in cheese and deep fried in a crumb. Under it was sweet potato mash, and it was delicious!

I'd buy them all except the Deconstructed Beef Wellington (that's the one on the cracker), there wasn't anything wrong with that one, it just wasn't in the same legue as the others I felt.

The five savories were very filling! So much that my dessert stomach has vanished. And so I had to get desserts take-away. Jas finished 2/3 of them, as a matter of pride XD.

I bought the desserts home and my beau, claimed the chocolate crackle, which he said he sometimes had in his lunchbox as a child, and hasn't had since. Tastes just as good as he remembers. I'd love these in a mini size, sprinkled with rainbow sprinkles.

Honey cookie with sage butter cream - Jas didn't like this one, as a cook he uses sage with lamb and so there's that savory association. I liked it though, we ate it the next day, at room temperture and it was still yummy. The cookie wasn't soft or anything strange after spending the night in the fridge. I'd buy it.

Salted Caramel Apple Pie - Bakewell And Co

I love pie, and the way the apple was cut up in this one was perfect. Thinly sliced, just the way I like it. Meanwhile le beau loves it chuncky but in perfect uniform cubes. The apple pie was very good, but I didn't taste the salted caramel, and we ended up serving it with ice cream and Carmelizious's Salted Caramel Spread.

Even though there was only three desserts, compared to other high teas that have more, it was very good quality sweets. And rather large in size, and so three was perfect. I do like that the pie was a slice rather than a tart. It was something different.

I've been to a few high teas, from medium hotels next to the apartment, to the Hilton which was average, food court average (worst hotel food ever), the Windsor Buffet and independent ones. And this one at the Providence Cafe is the best one I've been to, in terms of price, value and taste.

The Providence Cafe does a monthly high tea for $40 (ok it's $38, but I'm in marketing and always round up). Most high teas that are decent are $50 or more in the case of the Windsor/Langham (both $75). So this one is actually good and reasonably priced.

Have you been to tea recently? What's your favourite treats?

Charlie & Co dined as guests of San Churro Windsor.

Tuesday 28th April

Today was the start of San Churro's new winter menu featuring six new indulgent desserts and drinks, and we were offered to opportunity to sample three of them on Chapel Street, very close to Windsor Station.

8.30pm on a Tuesday Night and the place was abuzz  just like on the weekend, if you're looking for a quiet night out this is not it, unless you sit outside. I imagine on a warm sunny day that would be lovely.

TIRAMISU SUNDAE $12.95
White choc ice cream with coffee infused chocolate cake, choc fudge and milk chocolate

We started off with tiramisu, one of my favourite desserts in a jar, I love anything in a jar! Even had an aunt send them over from back home. I love tiramisu, it was something to me that I can always make, and has contains the very best in life: chocolate, coffee, cheese, and cream. All we're missing is butter.

Milk chocolate choc, choc sponge soaked in coffee - but not soggy. Whipped cream on top and ice cream under. Perfect for winter! With the richer flavour, and scents. The balance between the sweet choc bitter coffee was perfect. A delicious delight! And one you could have for dessert after dinner, as it won't keep you up all night. The size and price is great to share between two.

CRÈME BRÛLÉE $12.95

The star of San Churro’s new winter menu (according to the media release) is
the Crème Brulée. With a Spanish twist, served with mini cinnamon churros and vanilla ice cream.

I love creme brulee and growing up it was my favourite homemade dessert, it was also the only homemade dessert I ever had, and was made using grandma's French recipe (my great grandma was French). Whenever creme brulee is on the menu we always order it, and this time was no exception.

Much to my disappointment this one for me was a miss, not because of the lumpy grainy texture because it was cooked too quick (I'm sure that doesn't always happen) but because of the fake vanilla flavour which at first I could only identify as strange, though jas pin pointed it to flavour have been used instead of the real deal. So that would be a miss on quality of ingredient. But the top cracked perfectly under the spoon, and was beautifully blow torched.

The churros were a bit over cooked and dry - but this doesn't always happen. We're speaking from experience, as I sometimes drop by for a late night snack after class and whenever we feel like churros this is where we go.

SALTED CARAMEL VOLCANO $12.95

A delicious combination of moist banana pudding with a molten salted caramel lava centre.
Served warm with vanilla ice cream

Lastly was the salted caramel volcano, banana pudding. A variation of the choc volcano w choc lava, for caramel fans. It was moist and not too sweet perfect by the fire w ice cream. Though it needs more sauce so it just oozes out when you slice into it.

More sauce required.

Did you know the Windsor/Chapel St store offers ice cream too?

Of the three new winter desserts we tried our favourites was the tiramisi sundae, and then salted caramel pudding - with extra sauce. I highly recommend the sundae for coffee & chocolate lovers. Best of all San Churros is one of those places that's open late (past 9pm) even on a Tuesday Night! The Windsor location is also great being located near the station and the old Astor, opening again in June.

Which dessert do you look forwarding to trying?
What's your favourite dessert in winter, and how do you like to eat it?
e.g. By the fire with a good book.

Consumed by One Project @ Friday, May 01, 2015

Monday 20th April

You know that person who the nice guy that everyone uses as a doormat? The guy who ends up resenting everyone for treating him the way they do, purely because he lets them? That could be me on autopilot, today I let someone borrow my camera and shirt. Le beau's first question was if I was wearing that shirt. I was, but I took it off and wasn't wearing it at the time.

The girl who asked is sz8 - half my sz, but she asked to borrow it because she didn't have any formal tops, not cause she was making fun of my size. So she had a legit reason to ask. But why? Why would you ever ask to borrow clothes? If it's a prop that you don't have, that's understandable. Something you just want to use once hence not purchase and collect. According to media, in this case tv, girls normally swap and let each other borrow clothes. Why? I don't quite understand all this, because I have no female friends. I have acquaintances, but they're usually half my size.

We need to get le beau these.

Also let a guy borrow my camera. He knows I am not sending him the pictures because he used flash. Bad pictures taken don't go anywhere but the bin. Le beau wants to know why on earth would I let someone borrow someone borrow my camera. I don't know. It does not benefit me in any way. I do not seek to please or be liked (in fact I'm one of the least liked people this week due to that stupid crazy hard marketing research project). So why am I letting people borrow my stuff? I know I have everything in my bag, but it's for my personal use and not for you to ask to borrow - unless we are friends. But I can count my friends on one hand.

Whose ideas was it to use this font (era 2003) with a shadow?

Had dinner at Kitchen Samrat, the Butter Chicken ($14) was ok, chewy chicken not ok. Plain Naan ($3) was big which was good and reasonable priced for that size, larger than any other place. The kulfi ice cream ($4) with nuts was very nice and so was the sweet lassi ($3.50) I'd go here for dessert and drinks but not chicken.

Tuesday

Tired and so many surveys to do we went into hibernation. But did make it to the recording studio, and edited it. 1/2 completed! We found a better Lady MB! I am not she :P though I'll play her, but we have someone else do the voice. I just designed and directed the piece.

Wednesday

Tonight we're crashing all over the place. The dr was running late and so we only had 5-10mins. I got there at 12.15, for the 12.30 appointment, 1.35 she sees me. Should have gotten a discount. But nope still gets charged $80 for that 5-10min.

Mad run to get to lunch before they closed. Made it within 10mins of closing. I hate it when they're in a food court but don't mention that online... No decent pictures were taken.

Marketing research is killing me. Surveys for tourists. Have you ever watched someone selling monthly donations subscriptions or a child in African you pay for but don't get to keep? People either avoid them like the plague or just ignore them. Not sure where the American tourists hang out, but we found some friendly mormans to do the survey. Just like them no one will talk to me either. It's amazed they're still motivated when everyone ignores or avoids them. One was scared when he saw me it was like "you can see me?! O.O". XD

Thursday

A meeting, class. Oh wow that questionnaire task was so stressful I thought it WAS the project! Nope it's not, I completely missed the project...

Dinner at Angliss Restaurant, now I can say I've sampled most of the menu, well 2 entrees and all 3 mains/desserts. Food varies a lot depending on who made it. Students are also given freedom on presentation.

Security forgot to clear the building before closing... Totally photoshopped.

Real lighting was more like this.

If you're ever after a cheap hair cut/blow we found a place.

Saturday

Today we were going into the woods to do a photoshoot, but it was cold, wet and so we had to reschedule. The second idea was to shoot high tea, but then the photographer got sick. It will happen at some point.

I have no sense of direction, the street changes its name at the intersection. Also 350 is opposite 600. Why? I got lost and so we were late to tea, hence no awesome styled table pictures were taken.

High Tea at the Providence Cafe. Yum!

Afterwards we went to Ikea, where I did not sit on every chair and lie on every bed. For me Ikea is a half day trip! Instead we checked out curtains, and bought a lantern, candles (for him), cookies and cookie dough.

Loving gingerbread and ginger thins.

Home. 8pm. Crashed.

Sunday

Crashing at 7-8pm last night today we were up at 8.30am. Did nothing but procrastinate all day. We were meant to do things for our anniversary but I was/am overwhelmed by work.

I need to dance for 30 seconds tomorrow night. Solo. And so we went dancing tonight, I love the big 50s circle skirts but that's not what Lady MB will be wearing. Surprisingly morman asked me for the first dance, he doesn't ask me to dance unless we're the only two people alone. I never realized how tall he was!

There's a reason I don't drive, and one of those is I fall asleep after exercise, or any movement really. I was asleep in the car, and till 5.30am the next day. A Monday.
