Monday Movie - Finding Neverland @ Monday, August 10, 2015

Last night we saw 'Finding Neverland' and it was beautiful! Set in Regency London it tells the story of playwright J. M. Barrie and his relationship with a family who inspired him to create Peter Pan. It stars the beautiful Kate Winslet and Johnny Depp, with natural make-up. His characters are always so different and amazing that we never know what he looks like!

Regency Fashion + Dress-Up. Is it Thanksgiving?
I love all the fancy hats, gloves and lace. White was in as it was natural.
Other coloured cloths had to be dyed and wasn't as cheap.

I do love bringing furniture outdoors, and that coat.

Picnics are definitely in. Airbags? Not so much.

Inspired by the boys' adventures James writes a play about them though Silvie is too sick to attend on opening night, and so he brings the play to their house.

I read that the garden is transforming into 'Neverland' and I assume so, but how? Magic I suppose. Silvie goes off into 'Neverland' and off with the faeries, though what really happens is she dies from cancer. But it was a beautiful goodbye.

I loved the ending, his imagination and all the costumes. Set in the Edwardian Era we had long cotton dresses, in shades of cream and white, straw hats and parasols.

The Importance of Believing

And a meme. :P

Have you seen this movie or read Peter Pan? I read it a few years ago for the first time, after seeing the musical (no not the musical but a school version). I also designed an event, a launch with a Peter Pan theme that went very well.
