Pasta Night @ Mister Bianco @ Monday, August 07, 2017

Thursday 13th July

Dinner at Mister Bianco in Kew, around the bend from the Hawthorn house.

Just next to MCD. Damn I want some fries, but resisted.

White cloth tables, modern takes on chandeliers that throws a soft warm atmospheric glow over the cozy space (upstairs that is). We were seated upstairs, the perfect intimate function room for up to 16 they say.

With a beautiful gold foil damask wallpaper, it reminds me of a bathroom we covered in faux gold leaf for an event. Seated by the window it wasn't cold but just right, with a lamp behind me the lighting was just perfect.

Braised beef cheeks, creamed spaztle, pickled radicchio, beetroot chips $38

Fernando had the beef cheeks, which he said were good. That's all he said...

Califlower fritters, romesco, pear and mustard relish $19

We started, well, I had two entrees while he had a main.
I had the cauliflower fritters, it was all about the sauce and things on the side.

Sicilian style salmon gravlax*, kipfler potato, caper + buttermilk $22
*gravlax = raw salmon, cured in salt, sugar, and dill

Followed by a salmon sashimi, fresh and spiced well though a bit salty for me.

sweet ricotta + cinnamon cannoli with pistachios + dark chocolate $6

(bigger than before menu update)

A practically savory cannoli. Ordinary.

Sicilian style donuts ‘sfinci’ with salted caramel sauce + chocolate sorbet $16

He had the orange marmalade donuts, served 3 at least!
The serving was huge in comparison to everything else.

Pluca bosio barolo poached corella pears, pistachoi gelato + pistachio biscotti $17

The poached pear was quite good with a light pistachio ice cream though I preferred the one at the Bay.

Pistachio Ice Cream $5

It was good but nothing amazing really.

Service was very friendly with our water glasses constantly refilled.
