Local Eats - Souv & Burger Co @ Friday, November 03, 2017

Sunday 10th September

Living in small towns it's hard to find affordable local restaurants we love, though really we've never had a souvlaki favourite (never been to Oakleigh either) but this is it! Over the years they've had multiple owners, who sometimes rename the restaurant, this is the third owner and most popular (hoping they'll stay) yet.

It's opposite tram stop 57 from the city on no.75.

It's smoky inside, as expected, much like the aromas of the meat!

Potato Cake $1 - It was good, but not my favourite perfect kind.
But the potato inside was cooked, all of it.

There are a few tables, also a communal one down the back, though takeaway seems to be a lot more popular. We've been a few times and never waited more than 15 mins,

Sauces, oh and they also do dim sims.

I love watching them make souvs!

Super fresh salads.

Open Gyros Plate $15 (Take Away)

How was it? HUGE! Serves two, for one crazy hungry guy. For $15 it was a great deal, much bigger (ok maybe almost twice the size of Meat in Middle). And it wasn't all quantity, it was also very good.

The mixed gyros was a bit fatty but moist and tender, sometimes a tiny bit chewy but that was rare. All that could have improved it was a wedge of lemon for the meat.

Pita soft and not at all hard in places (like Meat in the Middle - when we had souvs last week).

The salad came with balsamic vinegar and was very fresh and a good size, there was feta too.

Another time we got takeaway. The phone is an iphone, for size reference.

Open Gyros Plate $15 (Eat In)

Grill'd styled chips with less seasoning completed the platter (ok sometimes it's too salty). The menu says plate, but this is a platter! We normally get this to share after a workout.

Mixed Gyros

Well done Souv & Burger Co. you are our local-ish souvlakia place to go to! Delicious, fresh and a cheap eat, it's a winner. And a favourite. Shall be recommending this place to our class.

We've been back a few times since, and always get the same thing. :)

Where do you go for your souv?
