South Wharf Eats - Common Man @ Saturday, June 08, 2019 Saturday 27th January 2018  Dinner at the Common Man, sadly a bar with no table service due to it being Saturday night. Of course pavolas sold out yesterday, lemon tarts too. It's ice cream or brownies... modern Australian cuisine, burgers parma, steak, fish and chips. Though fortunately they have four salads. We came for the pavlova, but it's ok.     Sultanas, Peppered Rocket & Vinaigrette Dressing |V, GF| 16.50 We order the summer salad with chicken 16.5 + 6. Crispy fried chicken unexpectedly! Thought it would be the lightly seasoned shredded or cubed kind, they usually have in salads.The combo of creamy cheese, sweet sultanas and candied walnuts was perfect! I usually hate walnuts for their bitterness in salads but this was perfect.
It's quite big but I managed to finish it.

Dessert once again contained candied walnuts which after a salad containing them too, it was weird. Tastes as expected, size wise it serves two. Two serves, not "fine dinning it was expensive as so we shared a tiny tart" serves :P.  Service was very friendly. Not too keen on ordering at the bar and getting your own water though... But I think it's different during the week. With dimmi we got 50% off, dessert $5pp without is still good esp in this area! I'm not a fan of expensive salads that don't include meat though... It's a nice place close to the water in summer, with an outdoor screen to watch the tennis or cricket, probably more of the later. Open plan, so a few bugs, but that summer air can be nice (it's winter as we write this). |
