Sunday 25th June




Laksa King "recently" opened in Glen Waverley at the end of the station perhaps within the last year or so, we didn't really notice as we've been away. Yes it is related to the one up in Flemington, as so we were excited to try the laksa - which we did on our second visit.




A wonton'ish dumpling noodle soup. A basic classic, could be interpreted as bland without the sambal. But I like it and it's exactly what I needed after a week or rather almost month of dining out daily. There's lots of noodles, and I'm a carb loader. Double what I needed I struggled. Takeaway was offered as at 9.30 they were closing, along with more broth, but I wasn't going to finish it later on. 

Damn 1.5% card fee, $14.21

Service was very friendly, the glass was dirty, the manager was great though a bit chatty.
We arrived at 9pm, last order for the night.

Sunday 13th August



We had the chicken curry laksa, which wasn't creamy enough though a bit hot for me. And while that chicken ain't rubber it's something. Chicken loaf. Densely packaged chicken. Compressed. Tastes like artificial eats of childhood. 

The bowl was a huge serving. Generous serve of chicken. The slices were too big to come straight from a chicken without being processed. Is this what canned chicken is like?

Can't say I'd get this ever again or reccomend it.




Dessert was nice, served as a drink it needs more coconut milk also sugar, as I prefer it sweeter, being a sugar addict.

Eric the manager was very friendly as always. Service was very fast, and it was almost fill, the place. Sunday dinner was full though no bookings are required for a table for one.

There was a dirty spoon and cup, so this isn't the cleanest place, and it's not the first time.

Tuesday 8th August

Dinner at Massi on a Tuesday evening, we've been here before for lunch and it was delicious, though admittedly over the budget, if it weren't for some special offers. 











Being Italian there's plenty of choices when it comes to wine, alas we just came from the bar tonight. And it's only Tuesday. Jas was delighted to spot a celeb on the table next to us, a chef he's a fan of.






Lasagna without the white sauce. This is what happens when you don't take pictures of the menu, no one knows what the dish is called. Jas did enjoy it, and I was jealous :P.



Green pasta with McDonald-smelling halloumi cheese. Jas says I've just ruined halloumi cheese for him XD But seriously it does smell like a cheeseburger from McD. The pasta dish itself was good but need something more, perhaps chicken? As it got boring.

Monday 7th August




Takeaway dinner from Ping's Kitchen as we were in town, well just passing by. I do love dumplings, pan fried. Carnegie also has some great cheap eats, though I'm looking for recommendations for GW.

Tuesday



Lunch on the go from Ganesh Indian. Very friendly service even in those brief moments. Butter chicken was a hint salty. Wouldn't get this again. Change from a $10 qualifies as a cheap eat!



Lido. A small town movie theatre with lots of colour. My ticket said it was the lime door I'm after, but there's more than one... Built up there's three levels. At the bar the cheapest thing is $4 coffee. Popcorn is a standard $8. In the movie theatre the letters are engraved into the side of the aisle sear... Instead of on the ground in gold, making it hard to find your seat.



We saw 'The Big Sick' which I like but don't love. It was funny. But nothing remarkable on the big screen. Torrent this one. I did enjoy it more than Ali's Wedding though.








To the city! Mso 2018 launch. Was boring. They didn't mention any of what would be my highlights. Namely Holt's Planets, Dvorak New World Symphony and hp3.



A stop by the bar to tick off today's social goal. Turns out the boy I like is gay. Yep. All the good ones are either gay or taken. In hindsight I'm not sure if I actually like him or it was something else...




Wednesday

Short films at Hoyts, where we met a cool French guy, we spoke about food. As I'm very curious as to what they eat, as here it's either bakery stuff or fine dinning with nothing in between. But what do normal people eat? He says each area has its own dishes, but mainly rice/pasta/bread, things that every other western contry eats really.

Ancien & the Magic Tablet. A morning movie, where dreams and reality collide. I love that the big bad is easily spotted XD Naturally being a princess, main girl must have at least one dead parent. We fell asleep halfway through, it was me and not the movie though. Loved the end song which was The Monkey's DayDream Believer in Japanese.



Lunch from Thrive, it was average. But there was more salmon than in the picture. The Pho like rice noodles not fully cooked, which was weird. Probably won't be back, though service was fast and friendly.

We went to work then dinner. I swear I don't just eat, I do get up to a lot of stuff.

Thursday 22nd June




Momo Dumpling, sounds odd without the s... is located around the corner and a block or two off the main street in Prahran. It's not really somewhere you'd stumble upon - unless you were looking for parking.


When the lighting and mood of a warehouse-y restaurant reminds you of juvie XD A modern concrete reflection of the urban jungle eloquently put, but no, this place reminds me of juvie. There's even a brightly lit corner for that kid strapped to a hospital bed.

This place is huge! And empty at 6pm, the location seems to be a secret...




Six gyoza shaped dumplings. They were juice and very good, with skins that weren't too thick nor thin, and not sticky. Served with chili sauce, on a bed of purple shredded carrot. 

Bio guy had the duck baos which aren't on the menu? He said they were very good though a third of his food budget for the week. He spends $20-30 a week on food, minus the times I drag him out of rehab.

It was a grab and go order as I was on my way to work, we were hoping to eat in if we could within 15 minutes.

Thursday 3rd August

Lunch at Momo goes till 4pm here! The latest I've seen anywhere. Wow that menu is hard to read thanks to the background. As I publish this review they've actually closed, so it mightn't be useful to anyone anyway. 



We ordered the wonton noodle soup from the $15 lunch menu. Through liven it's $17... I hate it when apps used as an incentive end up costing you more, as the place passes the fee onto you.

It was a classic low flavour comfort food, I like it but it wasn't remarkable. 

Service was friendly. Probably won't return, as it doesn't really stand out.
