Fruitlife's Honey Toast @ Monday, February 29, 2016 Thursday 18th Feb Honey toast within the last couple years we've seen popping up all over instagram looking delicious and fun. We've seen them at Sweetie & Mustache, in Box Hill, Sydney and Taiwan which seems to be the origin. Found at asian cafes, for around $20. That's expensive. So when we saw a $9 offer in scoopon, jas was happy to go.

There were swings! Which jas was certain were not designed to be suspended a few inches off the group, as is his opinion as the theatre's tech guy, three on a seat swinging would have the ceiling coming down.
Mango crepes were what jas wanted, as he'd forgotten to have dinner. Average and expensive was his opinion. On the same block was the durian place, that also offers crepes.
Can we get pizza to share? Jas said hell no!! XD
Tropical Rainforest (Display) $19!
Honey toast is a hollowed out loaf, about 1/4 length of a full one, toasted with some toasted slices inside then piled up with ice cream, cream, fruit and other deco. It looks awesome! Actual. No grapes, and choc bark bite, also less pocky sticks. Cream was just pumped in as oppose to taking an extra step to use a pipping bag. It feels like the fast food ads, or frozen food. This is the perfect one, but what you get is average. Ours had strawberries, melon and pocky. The ice cream was the cheap kind but not as cheap as the chocolate flavoured sauce! That was bad. The novelty of it was cool though. A try once thing. That you could DIY if you have a grill. Which I didn't know was in the top of oven. Our house back home had a 40s kitchen and the grill was under the electric stove top.
Would I get it again? No, nor would I recommend it.
Prices were high, quality very low. Service was average.
The swings were fun! Safe? Not sure.
Have you tried Honey Toast? I'll be creating it at home now that we have an oven!
Honey Panda Weddings @ Sunday, February 28, 2016 Tuesday 16th February Tram train bus. A meeting, food related it's something coming up for winter. Bus bus, oh look we're outside the studio and I can see the mormans are here, won't drop in just to say hi though, tram tram. Some days are spent traveling. This is one of them. No phone or Internet for the past week means lots of reading the limited books I haven't read, white pages and walking to the local shops where there's a 50c per 20 seconds pay phone. How did we survive before technology? It felt odd to go by the studio and not go in. So we stopped by the local salsa for taco Tuesday. The staff were warm and friendly, unlike our visit to the city one. Where they disapproved our knowledge of taco Tuesday and treated us as second rate citizens. Perhaps one week we'll return for taco Tuesday and eat in. Wednesday Should the uniformed and suits get up for those older? It depends. If you're my mother's age no. If it's granny yes. Ugg I don't like old people! Granny told me in a judging manner to get up for mother. Ma'am I pay full fare and got on before the busier stop to get a seat. I have weak ankles and fall almost ever single time on the tram. It's to the point where I bring a big plastic bag (dry clean only) and sit on that if travelling during peak hours. #judgingyou Morman asked me something strange last night, other than the usual pleasantries we don't talk. We're simply two people in the same building who encounter each other on the lift. He asked me from his list of some of my usuals who my favorite was. "What makes you think you're not my favorite?" XD Nope he's a back up. My favorite? Idk I have favourites. I like people who smell nice and have nice hands. One of my favs sweats like crazy, he smells, but he's really really nice. "Who's your favorite?" "My wife" he replied automatically. My guess would have been Joanne*, his regular other than his mother in law. So who is my favourite? I have a couple (I think this word extends to the number three) :P Thursday City. A meeting out of the city. Back to the city. Dessert and a stroll to walk it off. Honey toast within the last 6mths I've seen popping up at asian cafes, for around $20. That's expensive. But then I saw a $9 offer in scoopon, and jas was happy to share. A stroll by the yarra followed to check out the lit up inflatables, we got all but one, because it faced the river and I had the wrong lens, it was too far. Friday 10.30am meeting. I made it!! Slept in but still made it within the acceptable time frame. Had my face done for passport photos. Sadly it didn't involve purple lipstick, but a more mainstream "no makeup" natural look. My make up artists were great and 12hr+ later the makeup isn't highlighting my dry skin and the textures. Despite actually opening on a Saturday last December, Bankara Ramen just had their grand opening today, and we were lucky enough to find out about it 45mins after it happened. No.23. First 50 get a gift with purchase, a bottle of sake. As we already had lunch we stopped for a snack, deep fried chicken. Back to the office where some work got done, the part that I remembered to bring with me... coffee then off to Docklands to get pictures of more inflatables. As it wasn't dark they didn't look as impressive as yesterday's set, it was a bit chilly out there. We were going to go catch them all and get the last one, pandas on the dock facing the wrong way, but made a "quick" stop by Myer. I'm after a new bag, like with shoes I'm likely to reorder and get the usual, I like looking at bags but the nice ones are tiny, and being tiny the big ones overwhelm me. Next to bags were shoes and we came across Hush Puppies! I was after them last month but all the stores were far far away. The SA was great, and I picked a pair of Mary Janes, Peggy would approve. :P My size was a bit tight, and the next up needed gel pads. We're hoping the gels would make it perfect, as the width is great. Update - Returned them thanks to my special needs feet, the left one refused to stay on the base and leans right. The other shoes I bought last month have some issues, the black ones are very thin compared to what I'm used to. And both the black and glitter squish up my toes and have yet to stretch. The black is very slippery on wood too! The glitter, the front has yet to stretch but the back has, so it's boat shaped or rather like a loaf. So now the back is too big and the front still too tight! The shop was not happy, so naturally I called HQ who gave me a 50% refund. Sunday Another year, another wedding season and expo. Once you've seen two I'm telling you you've seen them all. Pick a good one though. Back in the olden days I suppose this would have been great in a small town, though it would be odd that you didn't know everyone already! But with the internet I prefer to do my meet & greet online, ask for quotes and things like that - without having to talk to people. :P
It's beautiful, I'd love to make a mini one that serves just one.

Today I am thankful that my career doesn't solely depend on my personality and being a people person. I'd be terrified to be a real estate agent, celebrant or anything with that degree of human interaction! Instead I do weekly meetings and mainly work online, and in the background.
How was your week?
KitKat Studio Pop-Up in Melbourne @ Saturday, February 27, 2016 Tuesday 24th November The launch of the kitkat studio bought on a line around the corner a bit after noon. Moving day meant we got there later than expected, yes you read that correctly, I moved houses the same day around the same time as attending this event. The new station we're near has no parking after 7am! Being closer to the city has it's downfalls. Like no seats on the train and not being able to sleep till end of the line. Lola got there at 9.30 and was second in line! They open at 12pm... someone's eager! Though her order was still no.69. XD I got there a few minutes after noon. The line extends much further than you can see. Step 1 - Select a base. Step 2 - Pick up to three ingredients. The ingredients were slightly different to Sydney's menu. Confirmation Step 3 - Whoops missed a screen, you get to pick a box design, cover. The Studio The make your design right there instores! Though it spends a few hours in the fridge. My Design. Milk base infused with coffee wafers, raspberries and salted caramel. Never white, I love white choc but not white kitkats. Recently found these new mini snack size instores. :) New flavours, all limited editions are displayed each week. Anna's first creation. Later on another one of her creations would be released. I don't think we want to know how much we spent here over the few months, as we bought every flavour, and some more than once. The only one we gave a miss was the $88 gold one. Along with all the special editions there were regular kitkats too. Gift sets were available, and I was lucky enough to be gifted one! Each week there's a different set of four in this box. Week 2 Gift Box Aren't they beautiful? Week One Menu Flavours obtained on Day One. One of my favourites, hoping to get a jar of that and make a cake. Raspberry & White Chocolate and one of the best combos! What I bought home on the first day. They got one of my orders wrong... One of the least impressive flavours. Another favourite of mine, matched with a matching matcha tea. This one was chili! The last set was Chinese New Year themed. This one smells amazing! Just like mandarin shortbread I made in middle school. Hmm... not sure about this one. An extra thick coat for this one. Taro & Black Sesame were amazing! Regret not buying another box of these! All 18 flavours. Gotta catch them all! Christmas Set Summer Set My top three picks, all with a white choc base. Luckily during the last couple weeks my first two favourites made a return. Favourites minus one. After 11 weeks the KitKat Studio has concluded and saying goodbye to Melbourne, and potentially gone into hibernation in a storage container. For 11 weeks Lola & I visiting them for their weekly flavours, changing as you guessed, weekly. We purchased and consumed all 18 flavours and only skipped one, the $88 one coated in gold leaf (which tastes like foil). Some flavours were purchased more than once, our favourites naturally. There were three bases, selected depending on the match with the flavours and how well it works. e.g. almond brittle & sticky salted caramel popcorn on a dark base, and matcha on a white base. Naturally Lola's favourites were the dark ones, though why she like it dark is unknown to me. I always thought adults say they like the dark one as it's relatively higher in the good stuff, but it's bitter... Though I have seen a correlation/relationship that those who like their coffee dark, bitter and too hot for you, and dark chocolate. Meanwhile being a sugar addict with sugar running through my veins I love white chocolate, which has 0% cacao content, making it more like condense milk and less like chocolate. But there is one brand, they're like $4 square at Coles, that actually has cacao in it, it's very different. I also like milk. But not dark, I usually save those ones for friends. The custom boxes were a great idea for yourself or as gifts, especially for interstate friends or those who can't find anything with their name on it. I bought a few as gifts, including one for morman, though instead of putting his very common name we put 'Cookie Monster'. :P Jas wanted 'Wanker' on his, but the order was declined. After 11 weeks I have selected my top 3, and bought 2/3 of them twice, I missed the third as it was the last week and I didn't get a chance to go to the city again. All three have a white base, and are quite sweet, have a glass of milk after this sweet. I would have liked to have seen more flavours with pistachio, perhaps a cherry tart, butterbeer (copy righted), pumpkin pie, pecan pie, raisin & rum. Which flavours were your favourite? Which flavours would you have liked to have seen? |
