D.O.C. Pizza - Albert Park by The Sea @ Sunday, February 07, 2016 Thursday 21st January D.O.C. is real Italian eating and age old simplicity refreshed with contemporary flair, says the website. It's one of the top rated pizza restaurants in the year that pizza was the thing, after the mexican, macaroon and ramen craze. Located at stop 31, the second last stop to south melb beach tram no.1 is DOC Pizza. Seats sprawled from the street to inside then out into the courtyard where were seated, jas under the edge of the roof where he was dripped upon. The couple next to us were actors off to the theatre down the road too.
Drinks. Water costs $8...
I love pizza! I don't have any particular memories linked to it, other than cardboard pizzas. Other than dominos design your own and crust I don't really have a favorite place.
Pizza ai Porcini $24
Wild mushrooms, truffle oil, mozzarella in boanco with grated DOP pecorino
Because cheese is always a good idea I ordered the mushroom pizza, with a very thin crust mainly made of cheese! It was perfect and delicious! With lots of mushrooms and only one slice with a burnt crust
Pizza Pomodoro $21
Yellow tomato passata, heirloom tomato, anchovies, oilve & pantelleria caperberries
Meanwhile jas had the pomodoro which was a workout for the jaw, though thin it was chewy! The toppings were large and not distributed throughout so jas cut up the olives and capperberries. Capperberries are green things with cherry like stems, they had seeds inside but you can eat them, with the same texture as figs. Though it wasn't sweet, a little sour though. I tried anchovies for the first time. Nope. I don't like it. Fishy and very salty!! Why does Fry love them?! That mushroom & cheese pizza was great! I'd get that again to share, along with a salad. Service was very good. Jas tipped. Though they forgot about his drink till the pizzas came out, but it didn't take long. With the pizzas most have some form of pork on them that or they're vegetarian. Need more options there. The clientele was mid20s+ to families. Luckily as we started dinner the families were leaving with their yelling, screaming and crying kids.
Have you been to DOC or any other amazing pizza places?
