Small Town Eats - Lunching at Iron Henry @ Monday, September 03, 2018

Monday 13th Nov

Lunch at Iron Henry on main street in Murumbenna, a small town that closes early. It's very quite during the day, you can tell it's a small town as they have an IGA with expensive dusty expired products. The neighbours say they've lost half their customers with the sky rail being built.

Iron Henry is pretty clean and if you BYO keepcup you get a discount on your coffee.

We picked a spot on the bar by the window. 1.30pm. 4 tables taken plenty of room.

There's an all day breakfast menu with the usual suspects prices range $13-20. The veggie big breakfast looks good. I'll get that next time. They do cheese toasties! Though Daniel Son across the street seems like the sandwich bar in town.

Portobello Mushroom & Halloumi Burger $14
A sauteed portobello mushroom, fried halloumi, smashed avocado,
Spanish onion, rocket (and fresh chili) on a brioche bun

We had the burger which was good though unremarkable, it sounded better than it tastes - but there's potential. Needs a sauce and more flavour. Perhaps sweet chili mayo and tomato relish.?There was chili but I took it out. There was a variation in texture but not much. But still more than my last mushy burger. Nope. unless you enjoy the texture of soft all over. We need something crunchy and much more sauce.

Service was friendly though, perhaps I ordered the wrong dish?
