Thursday 17th August

Strolling we dropped by Zen without looking up reviews or much planing.

Being a student town there's many cheap eats, which is exciting! On this block alone there's Damso Korean and Zen that offers $10 lunch specials. Also fish and chips around the corner and then Samurai, the most popular spot in town.

I love a good bento and this menu in the window was too good to walk by.

Zen's Lunch Box $10
A main, served with sesame dressed green salad, steamed rice and miso soup.

There's 8 mains to choose from which is pretty impressive and it even includes a beef dish!

We ordered the Yakinku, thinly sliced scotch filler marinated with yakimku sauce.

The beef was very close to the bulbogi at Kopan. The cabbage salad had a sesame Kewpie dressing on top which we love. A fresh contrast, purple rice was also fun. Not a fan of bean sprouts though... The miso was average/standard though a bit on the salty side.

On our next visit we the Teriyaki Salmon, which we kinda failed to take notes on...

Definitely recommend, lunch time is always packed.

Service was very friendly, from the manager.

A great lunch spot in town uphill from city hall.

Excited about getting the sashimi bento next time!
