Lobster @ Betty's Burgers (Glen Waverley) @ Thursday, February 27, 2020

February

Hello Betty, so nice outside with no smokers (ok only 3 and just passing through), a virus in town and weak immune system ain't going to stop us from getting lobster burgers! Especially if it's limited edition. $24 with fries and a spin the wheel prize.

It was absolutely delicious as expected. I did rearrange it as you can tell before taking the shot as from the normal angle all you could see was lettuce as it was a few cms back. Better than Pinchy's which is the same price.

I do like Betty's burgers which are better than Royal Stacks, but my favourite is Huxtaburger (sadly closed in town). Though I'm not really a burger person. In town is also YOMG which brings people from all over, but I don't recall what the burgers there are like.

Service was friendly as always.

Service Fails @ D'Lish Fish (Port Melb) @ Tuesday, February 25, 2020

February

Snack Pack $18

D'lish fish and chips. The snack pack serves two though I wasn't feeling great once I realized what we had. Distracted by inquiring if the dimsim was pork or not I didn't realize we automatically got the flake, which doesn't agree with me... the guy didn't ask, and we were distracted.

The potato cake wasn't right, and I love potato cakes, it was something about the way it was cooked. The tartar sauce wasn't quite right either, but as I write this I realize it was aioli sauce...

Chips were good, the smallest serving was huge though. As it should be, le beau says.

Fortunately the view was nice, though windy.

Overall tasted like regret. Avoid. I didn't feel so good after.
Minimal human interaction but a bad experience. How does that even happen?  D'Lish Fish Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Underground Noodles @ Dodee Paidang @ Monday, February 24, 2020

February

9.30pm on a Friday night underground at Doodee, lights go down, music goes up. When we arrived the line hit the stairs, though there was still an line an hour later. Fortunately this place is the size of a cafeteria! Only with less space in between tables.

Loving the large selection of drinking including buckets. Alas he orders the milk tea with two very hot dishes and I get the pandan juice, very lightly tinted green. It was awesome! Something I've never had before.

Lots of noodle choices, we both go for the recommended egg noodles. The menu is physically and legit huge here! Noodles is what they do best. All pork based though. There is more than just an extensive A3 menu of noodles.

The Rambo $8 for the small (get this size if you're doing entrees, pictured). He orders the level seven noodles which he struggles a little with. Hello milk tea no.2 That was his entree, he orders the massaman beef curry with rice ($24) for mains but it's way too hot and he'll give it a go tomorrow XD. 50c takeaway box.

Meanwhile I had No.13 the seafood 'island' one, seafood mix with some greens and noodles, no chili. The broth was very good, kinda sweet but just right. A cheap eat at $10.

Service was good, a casual underground cafeteria style spot. For those who are ok to wait, not for dates, cause by the time you get a table you'll realize you hate each other XD. There was a live band and strange red lighting... perhaps for pre-club eats?

The desserts menu featured interesting unfamiliar dishes. Might be back, undecided.
He's excited about returning with the boys, to get all the hot stuff, even after being very sick cause he couldn't handle the heat. :P

Godiva Chocolate Cafe (Emporium Melbourne) @ Sunday, February 23, 2020

January & February 2020

At this point I think we've been to every chocolate cafe in the city, including the short lived Guylian and Chokolait (though not for the pavlova at the new location), the only one we haven't stopped by for hot chocolate is Godiva. They opened a few years ago perhaps, and we've dropped by a couple times for milkshakes when they have the BOGOF offer, and for gifts but not to dine in.

It seems like a nice quiet place, though also very bright, really not sure about that colour combo it has a retro feel, old 60s, the only thing missing is that burnt orange. *shudders*

January

Chocolate & White Chocolate Half/Half Soft Serve $7

Summer Days call for treats and today at 42 (45 on the tram) it's time for ice cream! Raspberry mango or one of the chocolates? Hard choice, but since we're at a chocolate cafe we had the half half, choc vanilla soft serve, rich chocolaty with a dipped cone edge. It was very good, but really don't see myself paying $7 for a cone.

Service was very friendly as always. We had a sample of their thin 'cat tongue' cookies are amazing!! Even if they are $3 each. These are a very popular jap/french cookie.

Friday in February

Back again with another groupon, these offers don't last very long. Tip - Always have a running wishlist so you're ready for those 15% flash sales.

Hot Chocolates $7

A drink each - milk for me, 75% Tanzania single origin for him. He said it's darker than the dark one at koko, while mine was creamy though not as chocolaty as lindt, being my favorite. He recommended the 75% here over koko.

At this point they were out of mugs, hence takeaway cups.

Croiffle $7 - A flaky buttery croissant oozing with chocolate, toasted in a waffle press.

We had the white chocolate  croissant x waffle, it was warm and really good! Not condense milk sweet (san churro we're looking at you) but just perfect.

Strawberries & Cream Belgian Waffle $10

He prefers ice cream over soft serve but otherwise it was as good as expected. Waffles are always good, though I love my plain/original ones for $3 from a place near Chinatown. We never go out for just waffles.

The box of chocolate was a random selection though sadly not reccomended as a gift because well v'day was last week and it included Christmas chocolates. Half of them were the fancy ones, two Christmas, a square and some bonbons. Eat half, gift half?

Godiva, almost a full house at bit after 8pm on a Friday. I've never been here when it's been busy before. Fortunately we booked for dessert before dinner. Tip - bar has great lighting but that blender is loud.

Service was friendly, no water, it was very busy though with people waiting for tables.

Damage - We bought a groupon, a $30 offer which included two dishes to share, two drinks and a 10 piece box of chocolates to take home.

Snack Attack // Take Me to Chunky Town @ Saturday, February 22, 2020

A Thursday Night in February

Chunky Town has just opened up a second location at QV, we were intrigued by the idea of a sausage fried in batter with toppings and stringy cheese, but passed it off as a try once trend that we wouldn't pay full price for. Good thing too as we ended up getting a groupon deal, a hotdog, waffle fries and a drink (Korean sodas included, plane size!).

Potato Mozzarella $7.50 - It was like a cheesy hashbrown, with a bit of bread encasing a sausage. Had one bit of the sausage, not a fan as I know i ordered the chicken but this is porky. That cheese pull though! We need a corn version.

Waffle fries were a cool idea but a tad either over cooked or cooked in old oil. Needs to have a fresher feel.

I like it, but like most things on sticks it's a try once thing.
Service was very friendly. They have all the sauces here.

A Trip to the Aquarium! @ Friday, February 21, 2020

February 2020

Absolutely delighted to be visiting the aquarium for an event tonight , as last time we didn't even have flip phones, just plastic wind up Kodak disposable cameras. An amazing evening, intimate at 50, checking out the new jelly fish exhibition that opened last December.

So quiet, calm, unless you're the first one in or work here we doubt it's like this, though there would have been a steep decline with no busloads of Chinese tourists, no kids either. 18+ our kinda event with a glass in hand, camera in the other and canape in my bag (they were hot) it was a wonderful evening learning about jellyfish from a panel of experts, with plenty of time to explore.

At some point everyone vanished and we were the last to leave. It was so lovely and makes up for that time we missed an event as we had a test in class (night class). I'd love to plan a wedding here, maybe our second? :P

When was the last time you took a trip Under the Sea?
