Gingerbread Folk's Gingerbread House @ Thursday, March 17, 2016

As someone who doesn't celebrate Christmas (purely because we're very competitive and any family get together is a brag fest) combined with the fact that mother is a health lecture, we have never made a gingerbread house. Ever. It took a few months to find a weekend when we were both free to create or rather put together and decorate a gingerbread house but we did it! In March.

The house was $40+ shipping which I think is too much, but I've never "made" a good one before (the last one was made of cardboard like dough and I wouldn't feed it to my dog, kit from Coles), and having sampled Gingerbread folk's gingerbread before I like it and decided to give it a go.

The kit comes with the base, house itself, instructions, icing mix and a piping bag.

We started by putting the house together, be careful not to get the walls and roof mixed up, I did. Leave it to set a for bit before decorating. There were sketches for designs but it was too detailed the the piping didn't allow for that amount of detail. I also struggle with straight lines.

Our finished house! I did the lattice roof, front, and window with all the sprinkles. He did the rest, and loved the back, which was made up of crushed flakes, cola sour straps and m&ms. There were no gum drops and we forgot mini marshmallow, also candy canes are long out of season. But we had fun, and look forwards to doing another one in July, but this time with making our own gingerbread.

Have you ever made a gingerbread house?
